KATHMANDU, May 14: More than 57 percent vote was cast in first round of local elections.
According to details provided by the Joint Election Operation Center (JEOC), a mechanism formed under the Election Commission to collect details from the ground, as many as 57 percent voters have cast votes by 12 am. Voters can cast their votes until 5 pm.
The EC is conducting first round of local elections in 281 local units of three provinces—3, 4 and 6—of the country.
EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma informed voting is going smoothly in all local units except in Namobuddha Municipality of Kavre.
Highest voter turnout was recorded in Lamjung.
