At a program organized on Thursday by the Nepal Mountaineering Association ( NMA) to mark the 39 the anniversary of the NMA, Bogati said new peaks in western region will be opened up for mountaineering and trekking. [break]
He also informed that as Nepal is world famous in the sector of mountain tourism, the diamond jubilee of Mt. Everest will be celebrated next year to mark the 60 Th year of the climbing of Mt. Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, he urged the private sector to cooperate to make it successful.
He also informed that works on opening a mountain training school in Lamtang has also been forwarded.
The NMA was established in November 1, 1973 fro running various trainings and producing skilled manpower. The Association established a mountain museum in Pokhara and a mountain memorial in Kakani and generated some 1,740 manpower. The government has also given responsibility of permission and management of 33 peaks of the country to NMA.
On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam, NMA Vice Chairman Santabir Lama, former chairman Ang Chhiring Sherpa also spoke on the importance of mountain tourism.
