Action taken against school principal abusing power

SARLAHI, Oct 8: A school principal of western Sarlahi who had been abusing his power to provide monthly salary of a schoolteacher to his daughter, who does not even teach at the school, has been penalized. Mahendra Ray Yadav, the principal of Shree Prabika School, which lies in Bhagwanpur of Barahathawa Municipality-10, had long been providing monthly salary to his daughter Gitanjali who does not even teach at the school.

After the matter came to the surface, the municipality recently cut off all the perks and benefits of Yadav and his daughter. According to Dinesh Ray, education section chief of Barahathawan, salaries of Yadav and his daughter have now been stopped.“Yadav has been reported of providing salary to his daughter who does not even mark her attendance at the school. We are forced to take action after finding out about such irregularity,” he said.

According to Ray, the administration has initiated a proper investigation into the matter. “We sought clarification from Yadav after receiving numerous complaints from the parents and students. But after he refused to clarify, we stopped their salary and initiated investigation.

”Ramharesh Sah, chairman of the School Management Committee, has also accused Yadav of being indulged in irregularities. According to him, the principal is also involved in irregularity regarding budget of school infrastructure construction. Likewise, the school management committee has also accused principal Yadav of taking school computers granted by District Education Office to his home.“We have noticed the principal taking the attendance register to his home on many occasions,” said Sonel Lal Sah, one of the school teachers. According to the management committee, they had also taken the issue to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). But the commission chose to ignore both verbal and written complaints regarding the irregularities of the school principal.

On the other hand, principal Yadav said the school management committee has intention of dragging him down despite not committing any wrongdoing. He dismissed all accusations leveled against him.
