Prez presses parties for early consensus

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday pressed the top leaders of the main political parties to forge consensus at the earliest.



During the meeting with the leaders at his official residence in Shital Niwas, President Yadav urged the leaders to find a common ground to end the ongoing political impasse. [break]



Emerging from the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal informed the media that the president urged the leaders to give an outlet for the existing constitutional and political impasse at the earliest.”



“President also assured that he was ready to act as per consensus of the parties to end the existing deadlock,” Dahal added.



Responding to the president, the leaders have promised to forge consensus by mid-October, according to Dahal.



President Yadav had invited the leaders for talks on resolution of the current political crisis that has emerged following the dissolution of the CA on May 27.



Top leaders four main political parties—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist—along with United Democratic Madhesi Front, an alliance of Madhes based parties, were present in the meeting.
