However, she always had other plans in mind. Not until her Bachelor's did she realize her passion for singing was more than just a spare time hobby. When she recorded her first song, she realized it was what she believed in, just like her parents. Ever since then, this beautiful, young singer has set her mind and has sung her way into thousands of Nepali hearts.Among her many songs are, 'Yo Chhoriko Rupai Ramro', 'Ali Ali', 'Kaha Kaha' and 'Najik Chaina.' Here she reveals to Republica some of the lesser known facts about herself.
'Ali Ali' is her favorite song
Shreya is not one of those artistes who'll say picking out a favorite out of her works is a daunting task. She almost effortlessly admits that "Ali Ali" from her latest album 'Prelude' is her all time favorite. "I love the whole idea behind the song and also love how the music video turned out," she says. The video was shot in Jomsom and was composed by her father, Uday Sotang.
She's a "homely" person
Shreya prefers to spend her free time at home with her family rather than going out. She prefers to read and cook to while away the time. She says, "I end up at home most of the times when there is no work and love it that way." However, if that doesn't work out, she watches a movie or hangs out with good friends.
Becoming a singer was something she'd never planned
Shreya recorded her first song while she was doing her undergraduate studies. And that, she says, was the turning point of her life. Born to parents known for their brilliant voice, singing was just a hobby for her until then. "But after recording my first song, I realized that this was my true calling. So I went ahead and pursued it," she says. There's been no looking back since, and we're glad she chose this path.
She loves to cook
The beautiful singer is equally (if not more) skillful in the kitchen. "I love cooking, and more often than not, I spend my free time trying out new recipes. I like it when I can present something delicious to my family," she says.
She's a travel buff
A keen lover of adventures, Shreya things traveling is in itself an adventure. She has mostly traveled to the western parts of Nepal and to a few places abroad. She recalls having traveled a lot and is always looking forward to a long journey to explore new places. So where would she want to go next? She answers, "The three places that top my 'must visit' list are Egypt, Maldives and Hawaii."
