According to Sharma, FNJ, MSFC, Nepal Press Council and the government´s Department of Information will jointly monitor the media houses.

"First we will talk to the management of media houses who don´t even provide minimum salaries and other basic facilities to journalists and press them to provide salaries and perks as per the Working Journalist Act," Sharma told Republica. "If any of the houses is found of not implementing the Act, we will launch a massive campaign for strict implementation of the act."

He urged other media-related organizations, institutions and journalists, who have been deprived of their basic rights, to join the campaign.

Acharya of MSFC informed that the campaign would be launched without delay. "We will jointly visit the media houses in person and press the management to implement the Act," Acharya told Republica.

Kiran Pokharel of Nepal Press Union and Gagan Bista of Press Chautari, among other representatives participating in the interaction, seconded the proposal to monitor implementation of the Act. They said it is high time that media persons unite for the cause as thousands of journalists across the country have been compelled to work without even receiving appointment letters.
