LONDON, July 22: Atletico Madrid have approached Chelsea over the possibility of taking Olivier Giroud on loan, according to Sky sources.

However, it is believed Chelsea would prefer to do a permanent deal with the Spanish club.

Giroud scored three goals in 13 appearances for the Blues last season after joining from London rivals Arsenal in January.

The 31-year-old was part of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup, although he failed to score in seven appearances for Les Blues in Russia.

Atletico Madrid's primary target this summer is AC Milan striker Nikola Kalinic. However, the Croatian is waiting on a decision from Milan as to whether they allow him to leave the San Siro.

Barca make third bid for Willian

Barcelona have launched a third bid to sign Chelsea winger Willian which is in excess of £55m, Sky Sports News understands.

Sky Sports News reported last week that Barcelona had tabled a second offer believed to be worth up to £53m. for the Brazil international, with talks still ongoing between the two clubs and representatives of the player.

Sky sources understand the La Liga champions first began efforts to lure Willian to the Nou Camp over three months ago.

Premier League rivals Manchester United were interested in a deal for the winger back in May with the player himself wanting to leave the club during the tenure of former head coach Antonio Conte, who has since been replaced by Maurizo Sarri.

New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri worked with Higuain at Napoli before the striker joined Juventus in 2016, and Sky in Italy believe Sarri is keen to link up with the 30-year-old again at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentina international scored 23 goals in 50 appearances last season and has scored 55 in 105 games since moving to Turin.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, Sky in Italy are reporting - another player that worked with Sarri previously at Empoli.

Sarri has already brought Jorginho with him to west London this summer, but Chelsea are yet to make another first-term signing.

With goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois anticipated to leave, Chelsea are considering re-signing Petr Cech or Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel.

Aleksandr Golovin's CSKA team-mate hints he could be joining Chelsea

Aleksandr Golovin's CSKA Moscow team-mate Sergey Chepchugov has given the biggest hint yet that the midfielder could be heading to Chelsea.

The club have been strongly linked with the Russian international.

CSKA Moscow's president Evgeniy Giner had warned Chelsea that rival clubs were ready tp sign Golovin.

French newspaper L'Equipe said on Saturday morning that he was set to join Monaco while other reports suggested that the player's first choice was Serie A champions Juventus.

The 22-year-old also played in CSKA's group stage defeats to Manchester United in last season's Champions League and scored at the Emirates when they lost to Arsenal in the Europa League quarter-finals.
