Lower Modikhola-I nears production

PHALEBAS, June 17: The under-construction Lower Modikhola- I Hydropower Project based at Chuwa VDC in Parbat district has entered the final phase.



The Project with a capacity of producing 10 megawatt electricity is to start power generation within mid- July. The Project is being constructed by the private company United Modi Hydropower Pvt. Ltd.



According to Project Director Upendra Gautam, almost 98 percent construction works of the project has been completed.



Though the Project that had begun in Asar 2065 BS was expected to complete by Bhadau same year, it was delayed due to fuel shortage, strikes and obstructions from the locals.



Due to the delay, the construction cost of the Project is to go Rs. 200 million more from the initially estimated cost of 1.66 billion.
