Shrestha slumps further in PGTI

KATHMANDU, June 7: Nepal´s No 1 professional golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha shot three-over 75 on the third round of the Players Championship under the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) to slump to the 25th position.



Shrestha started the third round from the 21st position as he had shot two-under 70 and one-over 73 respectively in the first two rounds at the Golden Greens Golf Club in Gurgaon. [break]



On Thursday, Shrestha shot birdies on the first, second and the 10th holes. He suffered bogeys on the third, sixth, 11th and 14th holes as well as a double-bogey on the 15th hole.



Shrestha, who had qualified in the PGTI after finishing the Qualifying School as the second best foreign player last December, has total score of two-over 218 after the completion of the third day.



Kunal Bhasin, who started the third day from the sixth position, catapulted himself to the top position after completing the third day with five-under 67. Bhasin shared top position with overnight leader Manav Jaini with a total score of 10-under 206. Jaini shot one-under 71 on Thursday.
