Oldest Everest climber wants to break his own record

KATHMANDU, May 15: Octogenarian Min Bahadur Sherchan, who had scaled the Mt Everest at the age of 77, has announced to climb the world´s highest peak once again.



"I will scale the Mt Everest by 2012 with the message that world´s destructing weapons should be destroyed," Sherchan said at a programme organized by Senior Citizen Foundation in the capital on Tuesday. [break]



Sherchan said, "I want to break my own record of world´s oldest person to climb the Mt Everest that I had set by climbing at the age of 77. I urge you all to support in my mission."



The 82-year-old yet energetic Sherchan said the senior citizen themselves should be conscious to ensure their rights as the state only was not in a position to guarantee the rights of the senior citizens.
