Leaders one on peace process preceding statute

KATHMANDU, April 10: The meeting of the three major parties---UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—along with United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has concluded Tuesday afternoon, deciding to put in their all-out effort on constitution writing after completing the peace process by mid-April.



At the meeting, held at the peace and reconstruction ministry in Singha Durbar, the leaders have decided to leave it to the Special Committee (SC) meeting, scheduled for 4 pm today, to do the needful in that regard, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel told reporters after the meeting. [break]



It is said that top leaders of the all the three political parties as well UDMF, the alliance of five Madhes-based parties, will also attend the SC meeting to be held in Singha Durbar. As per an earlier understanding, the peace process has to be concluded by April 12.



All top leaders including Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC Vice-president Paudel, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, UDMF´s Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, among others, were present in today´s meeting. The Constituent Assembly has until May 27 to promulgate the new constitution.
