KATHMANDU, May 28: DRN Overseas Pvt Ltd celebrated its 19th anniversary in Kathmandu on Thursday. The company that produces DRN brand of household appliances like radio, television and telephone set has also announced that it will soon start production of rice cooker, vacuum cleaner, refrigerator and halogen heater, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

“We initially started by importing and selling Chinese appliances in Nepal. Later, we decided to establish our brand to produce and sell similar equipment rather than always sell Chinese brands,” Durga Bahadur Shrestha, chairman of DRN Overseas, said. “The trust on our brand is rising with each passing year. According to the statement, the company has also launched a 'special offer' on the occasion of its 19th anniversary, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup Football to be held in Russia.

Under the special offer, those buying 55-inch Smart Curve TV will get a 2.1 speaker free of cost, wile those buying 43-inch Smart Curve TV will get a DR-888 telephone set. Similarly, the company is giving away DR-111 telephone set free with 39-inch Smart Curve TV, 10 pieces 3-watt CFL bulbs with 32-inch Smart Curve TV and 10 pieces of 2-watt LED bulbs with 32-inch TV, according to the statement.
