He said that it would be difficult to handle the situation after May 27 if political parties did not come up with alternatives on time.
Jha maintained that political parties must not think about extending the Constituent Assembly (CA) term as the Supreme Court has already ruled out such a possibility. “Political parties must get the notion of extending the CA term out of their heads," added Jha.
He stated that major three political parties will be blamed for failure to promulgate new constitution as they have decisive role on the issue. “The country can get a new constitution only if major political parties arrive to consensus, other parties have insignificant role,” Jha argued.
He stated that political parties will loose confidence among the peoples if they fail to promulgate constitution on time.
In a separate context, Jha warned that monarchy may revive if political parties do not correct their activities. “If political parties keep on working against peoples´ aspiration, monarchy may revive,” said Jha, adding, “Who would have imagined Nepal becoming a republic, but peoples supported and the country transformed into such a system.”
He maintained that the country can´t back track from federal system as the interim constitution has already adopted federalism. “Now, the question is how many provinces would there be the country as we have already transformed into federal system,” Jha added.
The Vice-president ruled out the possibility of president rule stating that the interim constitution has not mandated executive role to the head of the state.
