SPORTS BRIEFS: Mountain bike rally for a cause

KATHMANDU, March 22: Laxmi Cares conducted a mountain bike rally on Thursday with a view to installing solar-powered lights along the Thapathali bridge. The rally participated by about 300 cyclists covered the distance of 12 km starting from Mangalbazar, Patan and finishing at St Xavier´s, Godavari.



"We have planned to install solar-powered lights before April on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Laxmi Bank," said the organizer. Laxmi Cares has planned to install seven solar-powered lights on either side of the bridge. The expected cost for installing the lights is Rs 1.7 million. [break]



"We will also install solar-powered lights at Tripureshwar, Thapathali and Kupandol if we are left with enough funds," KC said, adding that they have already collected more than Rs 1 million from sponsors. Laxmi Cares, an association of Laxmi Bank employees, has been running the ´Go Green´ campaign since last year.


LACM B, Apex start with win

KATHMANDU: Little Angels College of Management (LACM) B, Apex, ICHM and Caspian all started on a winning note in men´s football during LA Cup Inter-college Sports Competition. LACM edged past Whitehouse 2-1. Apex defeated LACM A 2-1, ICHM thrashed Don Bosco 5-1 and Caspian thumped Metro 5-2.



The event will feature men´s and women´s lawn tennis, basketball and volleyball. The competition organized by students´ council of LA College of Management will be held till April 1.
