The company launched a day-long tour package on March 1, and has announced that it will operate daily tours till March 10 in the first phase.[break]
Under the packaged, visitors are taken on SUV ride from Pokhara to Shanti Stupa, Bhakunde of Syangja district and to historical sites of Nuwakot and Mattikhan. In Mattikhan, special Nepali cuisine is served and tourists are given time to rest before returning to Pokhara.
“Two SUVs are conducting the sightseeing and tours at present,” said Krishna Kumar Giri, managing director of Triple A Travels.
The company charges Rs 1,500 per Nepali visitor and US$ 30 per foreign tourists for the tour that includes Nepali lunch and breverages.
The company launched the service after a series surveys revealed that a large number of visitors were interested in sightseeing of rural area.
“Hence, we decided to introduce the service,” Giri told Republica. The tour offers opportunities to observe and get information on lifestyle and cultures of the rural people, see important historical, archeological religious sites.
With the tour package, the company hopes to take city-centric domestic and foreign visitors to rural areas adjoining Pokhara. Giri said the package had drawn a very good initial response.
Member of Tourism Board and Chairman of Pokhara Tourism Council Tikaram Sapkota said the introduction of the new services had added value to the industry and offered the a new product to visitors.
“We believe it will serve the interests of people who like to go on a village safari,” said Sapkota.
The company says it hopes to unveil new packages in the future by incorporating additional villages following overwhelming response.
