KATHMANDU, March 7: As many as 41 district presidents of Nepali Congress (NC) have appealed to the representatives of the party's ongoing 13th general convention to vote for Acting President Ram Chandra Poudel in the second round of election being held today.

The appeal comes just about an hour before the NC holds a run-off election for the post of party president after no candidates managed to get over 50 percent votes in the polls held on Sunday.

The appeal states that Poudel’s victory is necessary for a progressive party and nation.

“We are clear that Poudel’s role will be effective in implementing the constitution,” reads the appeal.
