KATHMANDU, June 1: The Department of Cooperatives (DoC) has received complaints against 41 Kathmandu based cooperatives for embezzling the money deposited by their members.
According to the DoC, it registered complaints from over 1,700 cooperatives members. They have demanded recovery of the misappropriated amount of more than Rs 815.36 million in total.

Kiranodaya Multipurpose Cooperative, Hitkosh Multipurpose Cooperative and Swarnapath Multipurpose Cooperative are three multipurpose cooperatives accused of misappropriating the money of their members. The rest others are savings and credit cooperatives.
Manapathi Savings and Credit Cooperative, Monsoon Savings and Credit Cooperative, Muskil Ma Sajilo Cooperative, Hallmark Cooperative, Society Savings and Credit Cooperative, Griha Shanti Cooperative, The Next Savings and Credit Cooperatives and Sangharsha Savings and Credit Cooperative, among others, are among the cooperatives accused of embezzling the money of their depositors.
The DoC has also received complaints against Ananda Nagar Savings and Credit Cooperative, Suryodaya Savings and Credit Cooperative, Janamat Savings and Credit Cooperative, Super Top Savings and Credit Cooperative ChinaTown Savings and Credit Cooperative, Namaste Gosainkunda Savings and Credit Cooperative and Gillete Savings and Credit Cooperative, among others.
