Rabi Lamichhane arrested on charge of embezzling cooperatives’ savings

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has been arrested on the charge of embezzling funds from cooperatives.


Lamichhane, who is also the president of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was arrested from the RSP’s central office in Banasthali, Kathmandu on Friday evening.

RSP leaders and cadres chanted strong slogans against Prime Minister K P Oli when police arrested Lamichhane.


The police arrested Lamichhane after the Kaski District Court issued an arrest warrant against Lamichhane earlier on Friday for his alleged involvement in cooperative scams. He had condemned the arrest warrant with an angry Facebook post against the government.
