KATHMANDU, April 25: President Bidya Devi Bhandari made an onsite observation of the ongoing reconstruction work in the Basantapur durbar square area on Wednesday.
The historical heritage sites including Kasthamandap and Hanumandhoka suffered extensive damage in the 25 April 2015 earthquake.
On the occasion, President Bhandari keenly observed and acquired information about the reconstruction activities taking place at Basantapur Gaddi Baithak, Kasthamandap and Hanuman Dhoka premises.
Following the observation, the President also directed the officials concerned to maintain the originality of the historical structures as per Nepali culture and traditions, while emphasizing on the need to give continuity to the work that has begun albeit late, according to Director General of the Department of Archaeology Bhesh Narayan Dahal.
