With the initiative of Prem Bahadur Ale, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, as many as 40 Nepali artists can use the VIP lounges of the airports across Nepal during their air travels in the country.
TIA limits access of VIP guest vehicles in airport
The artists can use the VIP lounges on the basis of their identity cards of special category granted by the Film Development Board both whilst leaving for abroad and returning to Nepal.
Among the list of artists who are getting the special category identity card, some include Haribansha Acharya, Rajesh Hamal, Nir Shah, Shiva Shrestha, Krishna Malla, Mithila Sharma, Rajendra Khadgi, Ashok Sharma and Sambhujeet Baskota.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had sent a letter to the home ministry after receiving a letter requesting for the same by the Film Development Board. The Board had been urging the ministry for special category identity cards for artists since 2016.
