According to Hindustan Times, the accused identified as Vijay, a native of Rourkela in Odisha and who works as a delivery boy with a restaurant in the Chirag Delhi area, allegedly attempted unnatural sex, with the four-year-old girl due to which she suffered injuries in her private parts and is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre. A police officer said Vijay subjected the victim to sexual exploitation after luring her to his room on the pretext of giving her a chocolate. The victim’s parents and brother are daily-wage labourers and were away when the crime took place.
Vijay later fled his room, leaving the victim bleeding. Hearing her screams, some women from the neighbourhood informed the police. Her condition is stated to be stable. Vijay attempted to flee after the crime but was nabbed from a railway station in Delhi. Meanwhile, the girl’s statement has been recorded in which she has identified the accused. A case has been registered.
