A press release issued by the EC states that the voter registration campaign has already been completed in Kathmandu and Kaski districts. "The campaign is expected to be concluded in most of the districts by mid-June," reads the press release.
According to Officiating Chief Election Commissioner Uprety, this is the first time in EC´s history that its officials are meeting visiting every adult citizen at their home before registering him/her as voter.
"The plan of visiting all eligible voters will be completed by the end of the current fiscal year," states the release.
The commission further said its campaign has been slightly affected due to obstruction by some vested interest groups but the overall result of the nationwide registration campaign is satisfactory.
The EC has also requested the general people, political parties, civil society, media, and all voters to continue their cooperation for making it campaign a success.
EC has also said that the commission will make special arrangement for those who are currently abroad or failed to register during the first round of registration process.

"Meeting every citizen, taking their photographs, finger prints and personal details will help develop an authentic and reliable electoral roll for free and fair election," Uprety said.
The EC has said some 90,000 people have been deployed for the purpose while 4,000 computers and 1,000 generators have been mobilized to make the campaign a success.
