"History has entrusted us with the responsibility of concluding the tasks of the constitution writing and the peace process and a Maoist-headed government is the need of the hour to accomplish the historical tasks," Dahal said addressing the inauguration function of Rolpa Festival in Rolpa on Sunday.[break]
Stating that constitution writing and peace process were the major tasks of the country now and his party´s major agenda and the party would work responsibly to accomplish the tasks.
Dahal spent much of the time during his five-minute speech elaborating his concern on how to conclude the twin tasks.
"We (Maoists) have won the moral as well as political battle and have brought the country to this stage and now we have to fight a peaceful battle before bringing our revolution to conclusion," Dahal said in Rolpa, one of the districts from where the Maoists launched their insurgency in the 1990s.
NC, UML, Baidya faction boycott
The festival, convened at the home village of Maoist leader and Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, was marred by political disputes.
Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML boycotted the event saying that the Maoist party convened the fete unilaterally without consulting the two major parties. Also, Baidya faction of the Maoist party stayed away from the festival disagreeing with the decision to organize the event at the venue.
Finance Minister Pun provided details of the government initiatives taken for developing in Rolpa district. And Minister for Tourism Lokendra Bista proposed that Rolpa district should be developed as a destination for "war tourism".
