392 kg of marijuana found in oil tanker, two arrested

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Makwanpur police arrested two individuals on Tuesday after discovering 392 kg of banned marijuana, hidden inside an oil tanker.


A police team from Makwanpur’s Ratomate-based police station  apprehended the suspects with 392quintals of prohibited marijuana concealed inside the tanker.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyam Aryal of the District Police Office, Makwapur, said that the arrested individuals are Roshan Puri, a 26-year-old tanker driver from Jamire, Manhari Rural Municipality-9, Makwanpur, and his helper, 22-year-old Dhan Bahadur Malla. The arrests were made following a tip-off about marijuana being transported in the tanker.


DSP Aryal said that the marijuana was packed in 25 red plastic bags and hidden in three compartments of the tanker. A search of the vehicle and its compartments led to the discovery.


According to police, further investigation is underway regarding the arrested individuals.
