Sports associations can use the hostel for their closed-camp trainings while athletes and coaches from outside the valley can use it for maximum five days while visiting Kathmandu.[break]
The hostel, with 19 rooms and 40 beds, does not have dining facility now but NSC officials have claimed that they will provide the facility soon.
NSC renovated the building, which used house its Training Department, Sports Medicine and Research Center, and Sports Academy Nepal for establishing the hostel. "The building was originally constructed for hostel and we are using it properly now,” said NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama.
NSC upgraded the amenities including toilets and bathrooms in the building apart from carpeting the floors. NSC plans to provide the rooms to sportsmen on double-occupancy basis. The rooms will have two beds and a table.
“We have heard complaints from players about their accommodation during the closed-camp trainings in the past and I´m sure this hostel will help us in providing better facilities to athletes,” said Lama.
During her inaugural speech, Minister Roka said that the ministry and the NSC leadership are working to provide better facilities to athletes. “We are working to enhance the ´Players Welfare Fund´ to at least Rs 50 million,” said Roka.
