The source informed that Gachchhadar will hold talks with Prime Minister Wen regarding his impending visit to Nepal and Chinese security concerns in Nepal. The meeting with Wen, however, is not mentioned in Gachchhadar´s formal itinerary.
“Bilateral security concerns are bound to feature in the discussions in a visit by a minister who holds home and defense portfolios,” said Nepalese acting envoy to China Narayan Dev Panta, adding, “But it is not clear whether he (Gachchhadar) will hold discussions with Wen.”
Gachchhadar was heavily criticized for failing to ensure adequate security for Wen´s visit to Nepal, resulting in its postponement.
Gachchhadar has been accused of dillydallying on the invitation to visit China and refusing to meet Chinese envoy to Nepal for a long time.
China had informed the Nepalese government that the visit was postponed due to internal reasons. Last month, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha had visited China and held talks with the Chinese premier, foreign minister and commerce minister regarding agendas of Wen´s Nepal visit.
Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Shailendra Kumar Shrestha, Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Bhishma Prasain, Major General of Nepal Army Narabahadur Kandel are part of the six-members delegation accompanying Gachchhadar.
