KATHMANDU, Dec 8: NCell on Thursday announced that it has taken actions against and terminated business partnerships with more than 200 outlets after they were found overcharging the customers for the recharge card.

The top brass of the company also appealed the customers not to pay more for cards than the maximum retail price (MRP) set for them.[break]

Amid complaints of retailers charging the customers Rs 5 to Rs 10 more for the card than the set MRP, the company said it has also reviewed its card distribution channel and eliminated the unauthorized bulk resellers from this chain.

“Mainly the retailers that were receiving the cards from unauthorized bulk resellers were found engaged in the anomaly. Hence, we decided not to sell card through such unauthorized resellers,” said Rohit Rauniyar, sales director of NCell.

NCell has fixed the MRP of the recharge cards in amount that comes in round figures like Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, and mandated the retailers to sell them at the specified MRP only. “The commissions provided to the retailers are already included in it,” said Rauniyar.

However, in spite of pocketing the set commission, the retailers have been compelling customers to pay additional Rs 5 to Rs 10 per card.

“We are fighting heavily with this awkward situation of some entrepreneurs (retailers) trying to make extra money in an unauthorized way,” said Pasi Koistinen, president and CEO of NCell.

While cautioning the retailers to refrain from overcharging the customers, Pasi even warned that the company would switch to electronic recharge system if they continued to overcharge the customers, severing their businesses altogether.

Among others, he also disclosed that the company was developing listing of point of sales on website to enable NCell subscribers to choose the nearest authorized retailer.
