Addressing a seminar on ´Quality Environmental Journalism´ organized on Friday by the Centre for Public Health and Environment Development (CPHED) and Nepal Forum for Environmental Journalists (NeFEJ), Minister Tated said the main challenge of the present is to control impacts of climate change.[break]
Saying that there is a need to give space to environmental development program by the media sectors, he informed that the government was doing homework to control pollution due to smokes emitted by vehicles.
On the occasion, Minister Tated also released a book on Environmental Health Community Guidelines.
Chief Commissioner of the National Information Commission (NIC) Binaya Kasaju said media persons should present themselves responsibly as medias are strong mediums for increasing public awareness to control environment pollution and its effects.
Former Registrar of the Supreme Court (SC) Dr. Ram Krishna Timilsina stressed on seeking sustainable solution of negative impacts of environment pollution on general public.
Executive Director of the CPHED Ram Charitra Saha said the seminar was organized with the purpose of providing factual information of pollution on a person.
NeFEJ’s Rajesh Ghimire said problems were being added one after another even if works were done in the environmental sector for the last 25 years.
Various working papers were presented in the seminar on environment where 25 journalists from print and electronic mediums had participated.
