Armed Police to organize three different tournaments from Sunday

KATHMANDU, March 6: The departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) is set to organize the fifth National Open Women’s Volleyball, the fourth National-level Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton and the 10th Sahabir Memorial Open Lawn Tennis tournaments from Sunday.

In a press meet organized in the capital on Monday, APF’s Nepal Central Sports Committee unveiled the schedule for the tournament.

In volleyball, the winner of the tournament will take home Rs 250,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 125,000. The third-placed team will get Rs 50,000.

Likewise, the best player of the tournament will also get attractive prizes, while the best spiker, the best server, the best defense, the best blocker, the best setter and the best coach will be prized with Rs 5,000 each.

There will be 10 events in badminton—men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, U-17 boys’ and girls’ singles, mixed doubles, over 45 veterans’ doubles, over 55 veterans doubles and over 35 master doubles.

The winner of men’s singles will take home Rs 60,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 30,000. The third-placed player will get Rs 25,000.  Every player to reach the quarterfinal will be prized with Rs 2,500. Similarly, in women’s singles, the winner will bag Rs 50,000, the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 25,000 and the third-placed player will be prized with Rs 12,500.

Also, in men’s doubles, the winner will be prized with Rs 60,000, the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 30,000 and the third-placed pair will get Rs 25,000. In women’s doubles, the winner will receive Rs 40,000, the runner-up will get Rs 25,000 and the third-placed pair will grab Rs 20,000.

The volleyball and badminton matches will be played at the APF’s Halchok Stadium, while the tennis matches will be held at Halchowk and the Satdobato Tennis Court, informed the organizers.
