37 taxis impounded for refusing to go by meters

KATHMANDU, April 20: A team of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) on Tuesday impounded 37 taxis that refused to go by the meters.

After receiving many complaints about inflated taxi fares and tampered meters from the public, the MTPD had started a monitoring campaign to curb such activities.


The impounded taxis will be sent to Department of Transport Management for action, MTPD said in a statement.

Four of them will be sent to Nepal Bureau of Standards & Metrology (NBSM) also as they were found of tampering meters.

MTPD said it will continue the campaign in full swing.
