Former Prime Minister Dahal in an interview with Himalaya Television aired on Saturday evening clarified that he signed the seven-point deal not to pave the way for himself to become the prime minister and that he is not in the prime ministerial race at present.
He claimed he wants to forge consensus to ensure peace and constitution in the country and win the confidence of the international community and not to ascend to power.
He said the proposed high level political mechanism, which would comprise top leaders of major political parties, would discuss and forge consensus on the formation of new consensus government.
Dahal, who left for the United States on Saturday, said he would try to garner international support for the peace process and Lumbini development during the visit.
On intra-party feud in the party, Dahal said the party´s upcoming central committee meeting would address the 10-point proposal put forth by party´s dissident faction led by Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya and that the party unity would remain intact.
