Info network to attract investment

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: The government has started the process of developing a comprehensive information network on investment for drawing in foreign direct investment in the country.



The government has proceeded ahead with the process of developing the network in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation and the Federation Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in view of the Investment Year 2012.[break]



Information on the prospective sectors for investment by the foreign investors, legal provisions and the services and security to be provided by the Government of Nepal will be included in the information network, Industry Secretary Shankar Koirala said.



According to Koirala, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry have identified 50 different sectors as infrastructure development, special economic zones, hydropower and tourism with the cooperation of the International Finance Corporation and the FNCCI.



Secretary Koirala also said that the government was preparing to organize a conference on investment for drawing in foreign direct investment into the country.
