Bal Krishna Bhusal, Chief of District Public Health Office (DPHO), said health officials had now disinfected the farm located in Bhainsepati and also conducted medical test on people living around the area. [break]
Bhusal said the authority had intensified vigilance and there would be regular monitoring of the area for the next one week. The disease was firsted reported on Sunday when chicken in the farm started dying.
According to Bhusal, owner of the farm claimed six thousand chickens died. But the authorities provided compensation for only 350 chickens.
“The owner did not report the incidence in time as he was so scared that the news of disease might hit his business,” he added.
The DPHO said there were no other farm in the area, but as a precaution chicken within three kilometers radius needed to be destroyed if the strain of H5N1 is seen proved.
