He was adjudged the best midfielder in the recently concluded edition of the Martyrs´ Memorial A Division League as he scored nine goals and played a key role to guide his club, in its first year in top flight, to the fifth position.
Shrestha also scored a goal for Nepal in a match against East Timor and assisted two goals. Shrestha marked his debut for the national squad during the AFC Challenge Cup in April earlier this year.
Addressing the farewell program, Himalayan Sherpa´s President Karma Tshiring said that 19-year-old Shrestha is a talented player and the training in Germany will help him improve his skills. “We selected him for the training as he is currently the best player in his position,” he said.

While Mirku Junke, a German, is sponsoring Shrestha´s training, Nabin Pandey, a Nepali living in Germany, is playing the role of facilitator.
Pandey said that the midfielder will train in Germany for four weeks. “A Nepali player getting an opportunity to train in the international arena is a good news for all Nepali football fans.”
Assistant coach of national team and head coach of Himalayan Sherpa, Upendra Man Singh, thanked Pandey and said he hoped Shrestha would acquire better skills in football. Shrestha will train with FC Nottingen and will also watch the Champions League match between Bayern against Manchester City.
Shrestha said that he was excited about the training in Germany as the country has more football activities than other countries.
