A press conference was held to announce the award nominations in Kathmandu on August 18.[break]
Among the thousands of songs released throughout the year, the songs, albums and music videos that were released from June 15, 2010 to the end of June 2011 have been chosen as the nominees.
There are twenty categories and the winners will be announced on the basis of the technical votes given by the panel of judges and also through popular votes which will be given through SMS.
Like last year, this year will also have Tuborg Image Public Choice Award.
For the best male singer, best female singer, best pop male singer and best song pop female singer, twenty singers have been nominated and among those twenty, those who will receive the highest number of SMS’s will get the award. In this category, the judges’ votes won’t be counted.
For this year, the Image Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to poet and lyricist Kali Prasad Rijal.
The album “Only Love” has been nominated for eight categories and Music dot come has been nominated for seven categories.
Santosh Lama, Shiva Pariyar, Ramkrishna Dakal, Prakash Timilsina and Manojraj are competing for the best male singer award.
For best female singer, Anju Pant, Rima Gurung Hoda, Nisha Deshar, Juna Prasai and Shabnam Gurung have been nominated.
Basanta Chaudari’s “One Love,” Pramod Kharel’s “Pranaya,” Ramkrishna Dhakal’s “Shaili,” Dipak Limbu’s “Shrota” and Yogendramani Dahal’s “Smriti” have been nominated for best album category.
For best composition of the year category, Deepak Bhattarai, Kalyan Singh, Nyhoo Bajracharya, Rajanraj Siwakoti and Sachin Singh have been nominated.
The awards will be given on the basis of decisions of the panel of judges and also through SMS voting. The award show will be held in September.
