Rs. 250m allocated for Upper Seti hydel project

DAMAULI, Aug 17: Rs. 250 million has been allocated this year for the construction of Upper Seti Hydropower Project with reservoir having the capacity of 120 Mega Watt.



The hydel project will be constructed in Byas municipality-7, Benipatan.



It is informed that the government-allocated Rs. 150 million and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s grant assistance worth Rs. 100 million will be spent for the development of physical infrastructure of the project.



The digging out of tunnel of the project has reached the final stage, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).



A Japanese team has arrived Damauli for the inspection of the project.



The construction of necessary project offices, quarters, camps, road and the motorway bridge over the Seti River will be started at the earliest since all the works related to design have been completed, Project Director Mahesh Acharya said.



It is learnt that Rs. 80 million was spent last year for the survey and tunnel construction.



The construction cost of the project of which feasibility study was carried out within 2007 has increased to 34o million US Dollars.
