BIRATNAGAR, June 20: Journalists on Monday walked out of a program, being attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Bharat Mohan Adhikari, showing dissent over the government’s inability to apprehend Parshuram Basnet, the prime accused in the June 5 attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal.

The journalists boycotted the 58th annual general meeting of Morang Trade Association, where Adhikari was invited as the chief guest. [break]

The journalists led by the Secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Morang Chapter, Gokul Parajuli, refused to cover the event.

Representatives from various trade unions also walked out of the program expressing their solidarity.

On Sunday, the FNJ Morang made a decision to boycott all programs involving ministers and Youth Association Nepal (YAN), the youth wing of the ruling CPN UML, of which Basnet is a district chairman, protesting the attack on Dhakal.
