313 candidates forfeit election deposit from Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The total of 313 candidates to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies forfeited their deposits from Kathmandu district.


Election Officer Binod Kumar Dahal shared that 144 candidates of the House of Representatives and 169 of the provincial Assembly lost their deposit. There were 171 candidates in the House of Representatives and 222 in the provincial Assemblies for the 10 constituencies in Kathmandu.

The candidates who failed to secure 10 per cent of total valid votes in the election lose their deposits in accordance with the election law, he noted. 


A candidate of the federal parliamentary member has to deposit Rs 10,000 while the candidate for the State Assembly is obliged to submit Rs 5,000 as a deposit. RSS
