KATHMANDU, June 1: Balancing is not an easy act but how lucky I feel to satisfy lovers of numerous genres, thanks to the variety the music industry has to offer. You could say I have something for everybody. So I hope you’re ready for a special musical treat – the fresh releases from the international scene.

Rio is one of the latest blockbusters to have a spectacular soundtrack, and one of the singles included in the original score of the animated flick is “Let Me Take You to Rio” by Ester Dean featuring Carlinhos Brown.[break]

The songwriter, and now singer, has a host of top songwriting credits to her name: Rihanna’s “S&M”, and Katy Perry’s “Firework,” among others. Well, thanks to the new track, Dean herself is back in front of the microphone. And while the 24-year-old artist gets her hands busy for her debut efforts, she lets the song steal the spotlight. “Let Me Take You to Rio” is a simple yet a beautiful piece of tune that will make you want to go to Rio de Janeiro!

It’s an absolute treat for Gleeks, especially the hardcore fans of Matthew Morrison who plays Mr. Will Schuester in the hit musical series.

The news of the actor releasing a solo record has finally materialized! We’ve heard him cover a number of hits on the show, flawlessly.

Now it’s time for his original work, which is his self-titled debut album, to surface. And the first song to be taken from the newly arrived set is called “Summer Rain.”

The feel-good, guitar-strumming track is a perfect soundtrack to this humid season, to the rains, and the sun going on and off, like a switch! When Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” hit the airwaves, critics and Kat Deluna fans claimed that it plagiarized Deluna’s single “Party O’clock.” Well, chronologically speaking, the latter did come before J.Lo’s smash. Maybe not entirely but the lyrics are undeniably similar.

At first, Deluna was cool with the fact that a senior artist got inspired by her work. But someone pulled the trigger by pointing out that Lopez has millions of fans and the Whine up singer does not.

And that let Kat out of the bag! To figure out the similarities, you have to check out “Party O’clock”- a must-have on your party playlist!

Just when we thought we’ve had about enough dance tracks from Rihanna, the Barbadian beauty switches gears to offer something that connects more with the vocals than with the tunes or melodic level.

The recent one to appear from her current hit album “Loud” is “California King Bed” which could be considered as an I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing-type power ballad genetically engineered to soundtrack an international Kate Hudson rom-com.

Overall, it’s a beautifully sung single which may go with any particular set of mood. Kudos to RiRi for a great job!

Her journey from “Dangerously in Love” to “B’day” to “I am Sasha Fierce” has been nothing but a success story, and it goes without saying that Beyonce’s ride is getting only better.

Yes, Mrs. Jay Z is back with a bang in the form of her fourth effort which is simply titled “4.” Scheduled to hit the music stores this month, the album is led by the single “Run the World (Girl),” and boy, does she sound breathtaking in it! The highly anticipated track brings out the diva in the singer like never before, and is an addition to the list of strong female-empowerment songs. It uses a militaristic beat sampled from “Pon de Floor” by Major Lazer.

If you’ve missed the Konvict for long with materials of his original style, then your wait has been over. Akon returns to the scene, and he’s not alone.

The Senegalese/American star has teamed up with R&B/pop hottie Chris Brown for the new single, “Take It Down Low.” It will be added to his upcoming and much-delayed album, “Stadium,” and mark my words, you’re in for some irresistible hip hop delight. My thumbs up for the compatible duo!

David Archuleta had his share of fame, and now it’s time for the winning David Cook to enjoy the limelight.

The 2008 American Idol is expected to release his upcoming album “This Loud Morning” in late June, and off the disc is this rocking piece called “The Last Goodbye.”

It was rather upsetting when Cook took a break from the music scene after the death of his elder brother who was actually the person behind his participation in the talent show.

But now that he has bounced back alright, things couldn’t get better. “The Last Goodbye” comes highly recommended.
