KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has carried out 30 sting operations in the last six months of the current fiscal year.

CIAA during those sting operations arrested many civil servants including officers of the joint secretary level.

Most of those arrested were found misusing their authority and were involved in corruption.

In the sting operations carried out from the month of Shrawan to Kartik of the current fiscal year 2077/78, a joint secretary, four under-secretaries and officer level employees of the government were arrested.

In this connection, 48 employees of different offices including civil servants, people's representatives, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personne, forest guards and other staffers were also arrested.

The CIAA carried out four sting operations in Itahari, three in Bardibas, two in Hetauda, two in Pokhara, eight in Butwal, one in Surkhet, two in Kanchanpur, six in Tangal and two in Nepalgunj.

Following the arrest, the CIAA has filed cases of corruption against the government employees, with further investigation underway.
