The car (Ga 1 Cha 4792) was on its way from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It was carrying Nepali Congress cadres from Kaski district.[break]
According to Superintendent of Police Pushpa Ranjit at District Police Office, Chitwan, those killed have been identified as Krishna Prasad Parajuli of Fulbari who was driving, Yuvaraj Pahari of Baidam, Pokhara-6, and Tej Prasad Dahal of Buddhachowk, Pokhara-10.
Parajuli was president of Nepali Congress Kaski Constituency No. 3 and a teacher at Mahendra Higher Secondary School. Dahal was a general convention representative, while Pahari was an active Nepali Congress cadre.
The injured have been identified as Yogendra Bataju of Nayabazaar, Pokhara-9; Madhav (Madhu) Bastola, president of Nepali Congress Kaski Constituency No. 2; and Madan Bahadur KC of Lamachaur. They are receiving treatment at Bharatpur Teaching Hospital. Bataju and KC were critically injured.
KC is a general convention representative and Bataju a district member of the Nepali Congress.
It was raining when the accident occurred. “The car skidded off the road while negotiating a sharp turn,” SP Ranjit said.
Police were able to take Parajuli´s body out of the submerged car only in the evening. All three bodies are being kept at Area Police Office Muglin, Sub-Inspector Binod Dhital said.
Police said they would take the car out of the river only on Thursday.
