RUKUM, June 8: Police have recovered 3 kilograms of narcotic drug opium from Bhagle of Banphikot Municipality on Thursday.
The narcotic drug was recovered after an unidentified man escaped the scene leaving the it behind during a police patrol.
“A police squad was on a patrol,” DSP Angur GC said, adding, "A man ran away leaving the bag behind after seeing us.” “We could not catch him.” There was 3 kg opium in the bag."
DSP GC said they are searching the man and will not destroy the recovered opium until the man is rounded up.
Police have launched a crackdown on trafficking in opium in Rukum district, of late.
