3 injured as locals clash with police in Atharai

TEHRATHUM, April 7: Three people were injured after locals clashed with police at Sakranti Bazaar in Atharai Rural Municipality on Friday.

TEHRATHUM, April 7: Three people were injured after locals clashed with police at Sakranti Bazaar in Atharai Rural Municipality on Friday.


Injured are Santa Bahadur Karki, 55, around 18-year-old girl and Armed Police Force senior head constable Deep Raj Rai.

Police had to open five rounds of fire to take the situation under control.  The clash between the police and the locals erupted after the latter picketed the Area Police Office over the post-mortem report of a 18-year-old who was found hanging in her room in Booki village on March 28.


According to the report, Sarita Tamang, whose maternal house is in Ilam, had committed suicide.


Police have arrested some other locals whose identity is yet to be made public.
