TEHRATHUM, Nov 27: Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sita Gurung has vowed to turn Atharai Rural Municipality into a model rural municipality in the district within five years.
Atharai rural municipality which was considered remote before Nepali people adopted federal democratic republic will have a new lease of life in the next five years, Gurung claimed.
Addressing political rallies in separate places in the rural municipality, State Minister Gurung, who is also the central member of the Nepali Congress and influential woman leader, said that the initiation would be taken to equip each ward with electricity and roads in the ongoing fiscal year 2017/18.
She further said that Atharai could be made prosperous by harnessing its potentials of agriculture and tourism for which a sketch of draft has been forwarded, claiming that the locals of this rural municipality will be independent financially.

A candidate of House of Representatives under the first-past-the post system from the Nepali Congress, Gurung called on the Tehrathum inhabitants to vote for Nepali Congress for the implementation of the constitution and the prosperity of the nation.
Speaking at the election campaign, former lawmaker Ganesh Bimali urged the Atharai people to vote for Nepali Congress for peace, sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Leader Bimali called upon the Atharai denizens to elect educated, scholarly and competent youths in the upcoming elections for peace, prosperity and development of the district.
Speaking at the election campaign, Provincial candidate of Tehrathum Constituency (B) Bijaya Sambahamphe pledged that he would spend all the allowances and salary to be given to him in the development of the Province if he were elected to the Provincial Assembly.
Expressing his views Sambahamphe vowed to revive old educational system by establishing agricultural technical institute, vocational and technical education for the overall development of the students.
He claimed that it’s only Nepali Congress that can implement the constitution and lead the country toward the path of economic development in the leadership of NC and urged one and all to vote for the party to ensure livelihood of the people.
NC held mass meetings in various places including Buki, Iwa, Chhatedhunga, Chuhandanda, Thoklung.
Mahasamiti member of the NC, Hari Dangi, General Convention representative Bhishma Thapaliya, Keshab Bhetwal and former district members Narayan Ingnam, Hemanta Gurung among others were present in the election campaigns.
