3 held for using fake ATM cards

MAHENDRANAGAR, March 25: Police on Sunday arrested three Indian nationals for allegedly withdrawing money from the ATMs of various banks in Kanchanpur district by using fake ATM cards.



A team of police from Kanchanpur District Police Office (DPO) arrested the three from Mahendranagar Bazaar in the district. The arrested have been identified as Mohan Singh Bista and Surendra Singh Bista from Haldwan and Chandra Singh Bista from Rudrapur in India, police said. The police also confiscated 26 fake ATM cards from them.[break]



“We nabbed them acting on a tip-off that that they were drawing money from different banks,” said DSP Birkha Bahadur Rawal, spokesperson for Kanchanpur DPO. However, police are yet to ascertain the total amount of money withdrawn by them.



According to the DPO, the police recovered NRs 62,400 and IRs 3,200 from Mohan Singh, IRs 4,200 from Surendra Singh and IRs 6,010 from Chandra Singh.



The three arrested have been sent to Kathmandu for further investigation.
