UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been proposed as the party´s candidate from constituency number 6 of Dhanusha district.[break]
Several times Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, who is also the chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, has been proposed as the candidate from Dhankuta-2 and CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has been proposed from Ilam-1.
Former ministers CPN-UML leader Subas Nembang, who is also a former speaker, Kul Bahadur Gurung and Keshav Thapa of the NC have been nominated from Ilam.
Eighty-seven year old Thapa has been contesting elections from his home district Dhankuta continuously for the last 55 years.
Many former ministers have been proposed as candidates from Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, Dhankuta and other districts in the region.
Over 10 former ministers have been proposed as candidates from Morang district alone. Former finance minister Bharatmohan Adhikari from CPN-UML, former finance minister Mahesh Acharya from Nepali Congress (NC), former ministers Minendra Rijal and Aamod Prasad Upadhyay from NC, Badri Mandal of Sadbhavana Party and Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum Nepal (MPRF-N) Upendra Yadav will contest the polls from the district.
Similarly, former finance minister Barshaman Pun and former minister Gopi Achhami from UCPN (Maoist) have been nominated from Morang district.
Former finance minister for state Hariraj Khewa of UCPN (Maoist) and former minister Rakam Chemjong of Federal Socialist Party have been nominated from Dhankuta. Former minister Tulasi Subba of NC has been proposed from Tehrathum.
Former ministers Gopal Kiranti, Nandan Kumar Dutta from the UCPN (Maoist), Sujata Koirala, Hari Sapkota from NC, Krishna Kumar Rai and Bhagwati Chaudhary from CPN-UML, MPRF-N Chairman Yadav, MPRF-Democratic Chairman Bijay Gachchhadar will contest the polls from Sunsari district.
Other former ministers Purna Kumar Sherma and Deepak Banskota of NC, Padmasundar Lawoti of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, Chairman of National Madhesh Socialist Party Sarat Singh Bhandari, Bimalendra Nidhi of NC, Giriraj Mani Pokharel of UCPN (Maoist), Ganesh Nepali of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, Raghubir Mahaseth and Satrughna Mahato of CPN-UML, Sanjay Sah of Sadbhavana Party, Hari Narayan Yadav of MPRF-N and Arvind Sah of MPRF-D have been nominated as candidates from various districts in this region.
Former ministers Padam Narayan Chaudhary of NC, Rajkishore Yadav and Rajlal Yadav of MPRF-Republican, Ram Chandra Yadav of CPN-UML and Shatrudhan Singh Koiri of MPRF-D are other candidates nominated from the region.
Hemraj Tated of MPRF-D, Anis Ansari of SP, Renu Kumari Yadav of MPRF-N and Mrigendra Singh Yadav of MPRF-D are other former ministers have been nominated as candidates for the coming election from the region.
Three generations of ex-PM Thapa contesting in coming polls
Dhankuta: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa has remained a key political actor in Nepali political scene for the last couple of decades. Three generations of his family are set to contest in coming CA elections. His party has nominated octogenarian Thapa as candidate from Dhankuta-2. His son has been proposed as candidate from constituency number 1 of the same district. Similarly, Thapa´s grandson Siddhartha has been nominated as candidate for Kathmandu-3 and another grandson Birat Thapa from Morang-3.
