3 cops arrested for abduction

KATHMANDU, March 21: Three policemen were arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with abduction of a statue trader.



Sub Inspectors Prakash Malla and Rudra Raj Paudel and Assistant Sub Inspector Raju Bhandari were arrested in accuse of abducting statute trader Karmadhoj Limbu. [break]



Limbu was abuducted on Sunday and was held captive in a lodge. The abductors demanded Rs 400,000 in ransom. Limbu was freed after paying Rs 150,000.



The abductors kept Limbu´s motorcycle saying that they would return it after he paid the remaining ransom.



Limbu then filed a complaint at Metropolitan Police Office. The three policemen were found involved in abduction during the course of investigation.



Acting chief of the office SP Pradhuman Karki assured that the arrested policemen would be charged as per the existing law.
