KATHMANDU, Aug 6: A total of 3,663 foreign nationals arrived in Nepal on working visas in one year.

According to the data maintained by the Department of Immigration (DoI), in the fiscal year (FY) 2022/23 more than 3,000 foreign nationals came to Nepal through formal channels in search of work.

However, there is no specific data regarding the number of people who have come to Nepal for work or business from Nepal's neighboring country-India, in the records of DoI.

It has also been found that there is more influx of foreign workers in the FY 2022/ 23 compared to the previous years, with 2,892 arrival of foreign workers in the FY 2021/22 and 3,331 arrivals in the FY 2020/21, respectively.

In the last FY 2022/23, a record number of Nepali workers went abroad in search of employment. According to the data of the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), 771,327 Nepalis have left the country for foreign employment, which is the integrated figure of Nepalis going abroad with new and renewed work permits.

This figure has surpassed the previous record of FY 2014/15, when 693,032 Nepali nationals had left for employment abroad.
