KATHMANDU, Oct 17: The Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday confirmed over 3,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
With 3,167 additional cases reported in the past 24 hours, the country’s total caseload has jumped to 129,304, said the ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshowr Gautam during a virtual media briefing.

Including 1,800 recoveries on Saturday, as many as 89,840 COVID-19 patients have so far got over the disease while 727 people have succumbed to this disease. The country reported 12 new fatalities on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,746 new cases on Saturday, taking the total number of infections in the Valley to 53,484.
Morang, Sunsari, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Surkhet districts currently have more than 500 active cases each while no active case has been reported in the mountainous district of Mustang.
Since the country began real-time PCR tests on January 23 this year, a total of 1,269,605 tests have been carried out across the country including 15,438 on Saturday.
