KATHMANDU, Sept 27: The 2nd National Migration Conference has kicked off in the capital city on Tuesday.
The two-day conference organized by various 14 organizations including International Organization of Migration, The Asia Foundation and Maiti Nepal, is to dwell on the problems of migration and the measure to the solution.
Inaugurating the conference, Minister for Labour and Employment Surya Man Gurung expressed confidence that the conference would be fruitful to make the foreign employment more systematic and respected. "One of the priorities of the government is to wipe out the problems on migration," he added.
Similarly, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Labour and Employment Govind Mani Bhurtel said the constitution has provisioned that the foreign employment would be exploitation free. So, all sides concerned should focus on implementing this provision, he stressed.
The conference would see thorough discussions on multifarious issues including rights of migrant workers, training, misuse of remittance, implementation of free ticket and visa, problems of domestic workers, immigration, human trafficking and related issues.
On the occasion, Maiti Nepal Chairperson Anuradha Koirala said although Nepal has been facing the problems of migrants for long, the discussion on it began so late.
Chairman of Citizens' Network on for Safe Immigration, Siddhi Chandra Baral, said the conference was organized to make a common view on the immigration. RSS
